It is one of those things that you and I use on a daily basis, deodorant. I never really paid much attention to it and bought more or less whatever was available in store… silly me… if you care about what you put in your body, you should be as conscious about what you put on your body!
Then I found out two things: how unhealthy most of the store bought deodorants are & how easy it is to make your own healthy, pure natural deodorant. I can tell you now, I will never use anything else again and I promise you, you will neither!
The combination of coconut oil and baking soda is working so well, even after a intense ashtanga yoga practice, I feel fresh. Another nice thing is that you can choose your own essential oil to flavour it. My choice is sage oil, first of all because I like the smell and secondly because it really works well if you want to control transpiration. Sage oil has some strong antibacterial and antifungal properties. This helps killing bacteria and preventing bad smells. So a win-win!
Pregnant or suffering from high blood pressure? Sage oil is not a good option for you and should be avoided. Luckily there are plenty of other essential oils that you can use.
On top of the health benefits, making your own deodorant will take you only a small amount of time, and will cost you only a fraction of the store bought deodorants!
I am very curious what your experience will be! Leave a comment!

Add the baking soda mixture to the coconut oil and stir well till all is combined. It should be a silky smooth mixture
-
Add the essential oil and mix well
-
Put it in a glass jar. Let the deodorant harden a bit, either in the fridge or in a cool place, before you use it
Recipe Notes
Cococut oil becomes liquid at 24 degrees Celcius. So in a warm environment, you can keep your deodorant in the fridge
