Although spring has officially started, the weather outside makes you think it is still winter. It is cold and windy here in the Netherlands. And we are still fighting the flu or getting another cold, I lost counting. Instead of running to the drugstore, I decided to make my own anti-flu syrup.
The syrup, which is a very thin syrup that can also be used to make lemonade, consists of pure elderberry juice, thyme and honey. All natural ingredients that can help you fight the symptoms or relieve pain. And the good part of it is: you know exactly what is in this ‘medicine’. No hidden or chemical ingredients, just pure nature. Honey is added last and not boiled, so all the good qualities remain!
A bit about the ingredients used and how they can help you: Elderberries are a great immune system booster, due to the chemical compounds called anthocyanidins, which are immunostimulant, and they are safe to use. Combined with thyme, which is a serious weapon against sore throats, and honey, a natural cough syrup, I cannot conclude other than that this a anti-flu super-syrup.
It is safe to use for children over the age of 1.
