If I would have known how easy it was to make your own nut butter, I would have started with this years ago! The only thing you really cannot do without is a good foodprocessor.Choose any kind of raw nuts, or make a mix like I did. Roast them in your oven, so you are sure they are roasted and not deep fried and then let the magic happen in the food processor. At first you will think… this is not going to work. But I can tell you from experience, be patient, it will work out well!
The longer you grind them, the thinner the nut butter gets, as the nuts start to let go of more and more of their fats… and you know, these are the good fats!
I love thin nut butter as a topping for my chia pudding and my little boy loves his sandwich with home made nut butter. How do you like to eat your nut butter?
Ingredients
- 50 gr almonds
- 50 gr hazelnuts
- 25 gr pecan nuts
- 25 gr cashew nuts
- 1 pich salt
Instructions
-
preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celcius - fan mode
-
make a nice mix of raw nuts. I used almond, pecan, cashew and hazelnuts, but feel free to make your own mix! Roughly chop them and roast them for 12 to 15 minutes until amber. Take them out and let them cool down a little bit
-
add them to your foodprocessor and grind for 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes a thin paste. Stop the food processor several times to check the consistency of the nut butter and to scrape it from the sides. this also ensures your foodprocessor doesn't get to warm.
-
season with salt to your own taste
